How teachers can build a sense of community among students?


Teachers today are much concerned about the growth of the children who majorly lack in the classroom. This is the reason why they are trying to infuse a sense of community among students that can encourage them to attend classes more frequently. Instead of just relying on the assignment writing services, they also want their students to take part in some classroom activities, and other group projects that increase their knowledge and information base.

Building a sense of belonging among students is what motivates most of them that can also help them enjoy their classes and fun activities. So, here we’ve provided a few ways that can help teachers build a sense of community among students for more class involvement.



Figure out some interesting activities

Teachers need to conduct some interesting activities in the classroom that evokes a sense of revulsion and anxiety among students. These kinds of activities tend to encourage the phenomena of community-building or a sense of belonging among students. Here they can ask their students to come up with some exciting and outstanding ideas related to their main course subject, which somehow increases confidence in them and makes them feel motivated at times of distress.

Provide extra-credit assignments or homework

Extra-credit assignments and homework tend to encourage students to attend regular classes and submit assignments before time. Here, teachers can provide them with some extra points on completing their work before deadline, or for some other cause that intends to indulge them in some campus events or extra-curricular activities.

Try creating a virtual extension of the classroom

At times, there are reasons that unable students to attend their classes in the classroom. Some of it might include personal responsibilities, part-time jobs or other such activities or odd jobs. In such a case, students expect help from their respective teachers and professors. So, teachers should try to create a virtual extension of the classroom, through some online apps or video call features. This might help the students learn things on their smartphones and even laptops.
