Hypothesis tends to share a logical relationship between two or more
existing variables. In academic terms, it is expressed in the form of
a testable statement. In order to write a good hypothesis, you must
ascertain the following features for it-
Should be adequate
Should be testable
Should be better in comparison to others
Depending upon the type and nature of the hypothesis, it can be either directional or non-directional. Following are the types of hypothesis that you need to consider before writing one for your academics-
Directional hypothesis: It indicates a direct relationship between the variables (positive/negative).Non-directional hypothesis: This kind of hypothesis do not show any sign of the relationship between different variables.
Null hypothesis: This is where you present an exact and definite relationship between the variables in the form of a proposition.
Alternate hypothesis: It is presented in the form of a statement that either expresses the relationship between the variables or show differences between the groups.
To devise a productive session out of your hypothesis and to get beneficial results, you must first ensure that your hypothesis is testable. And to do that you need to follow the set of certain criteria that include-
The result of your hypothesis needs to be reproducible.
There must exist the possibility of your hypothesis being false.
There must exist the possibility of your hypothesis being true.
Without proper
consideration of these criteria, the result of your hypothesis might
appear vague. Therefore, your hypothesis needs to be testable in
every manner.
